June 5-6: The Beach Boys in Concert: Inn of the Mountain Gods Casino, Mescalero NM, 8pm. The legendary band that gave us hits like 'Good Vibrations', 'Surfin' USA ', 'Barbara Ann' and countless other hits! Tickets $25 - $100.

June 6-8: Steel Magnolias: Ruidoso HS Performing Arts Center, Warrior Drive . The Lincoln County Community Theater presents the humorous but touching play, 'Steel Magnolias'. Friday and Saturday performances at 7:00pm, Sunday matinees at 2:00pm. Ticket prices are $8.00 for adults and $6.00 for kids.

June 7: Mountain Blues Festival: Ruidoso Event Plaza , 501 Wingfield, 11am - 8pm. Great food, fun & the best live blues around; doors open at 10am. Advance tickets $15 at The Quarters or WPS on Sudderth; $20 at the door. Details.

June 28-29: Cloudcroft Renaissance Fantasy Faire: Vendors, crafters, artists, demos, games. Renaissance and fantasy outfits with a town crier, street actors, and lots of activities for the kids. Family fun with a Celtic band, parade and a Saturday evening masked ball.

July 2-5: Smokey Bear Stampede & Rodeo: Capitan N ew Mexico, north of Ruidoso New Mexico . Parade, Ranch Rodeo, Youth Rodeo, Fireworks Display, Dance and Chuck Wagon Cooking.

July 2-5: Mescalero Apache Ceremonial & Rodeo: Mescalero New Mexico Fairgrounds. Events include a traditional Pow-Wow, 'Dance of the Maidens', daily rodeo and a parade on July 4th at 11am.

July 3-6: UFO Festival: Roswell New Mexico, 70 miles east of Ruidoso New Mexico. Celebrating the 1947 UFO incident. Guest lectures, light parade, costume contest, live entertainment, 4th of July fireworks display and much more. Events will be held throughout town.

July 4: Carrizozo Fireworks Display: Carrizozo Golf Course, off Hwy 380.

July 11: Missoula Childrens' Theater 'Snow White': Spencer Theater for the Performing Arts, Hwy 220 in Alto, 7pm. Tickets $15 adults, $7 children 12 and under. Details.

July 11-13: 13th Annual Art Loop Tour: Self-guided studio tour features 26 Lincoln County artists whose private studios are open to the public, from 10am to 5pm both days. Featured art includes glass, pottery, painting, jewelry, weaving, designer knit clothing, basketry, art dolls, sculpture, wood-turning and china painting.

Cowboy music, yodeling, banjo, mandolin, comedy acts. There is a little Western village with pony rides for kids, horse shoes, gunfight in the street, shops to browse through with kids' stuff. The Flying J Ranch is 10 minutes drive from Alto Hombre Gordito Hideout. Open six nights a week (closed Sunday) and then Saturdays after labor Day through mid-October. Open 6 pm and activities abound for children and adults. There's an old-fashioned gunfight and chuck-wagon chow is served. Kids can try pistol shooting and pony rides.
