Spencer Theater Year Round Top Entertainment

The Spencer Theater of the Performing Arts was financed by Jackie Spencer. Jackie Spencer wanted a world class facility, one that did not simply become a regional playhouse, but really had the potential for connecting with culture globally. A free standing theater...just a theater by itself...it could only happen here in Ruidoso. There is no theater to parallel this one. There is no comparison.
New Mexico Architect Antoine Predock created the $22 million, 514-seat Spencer Theater for the Performing Arts in Ruidoso, New Mexico.
Seattle Glass Sculptor Dale Chihuly has several installations in the Spencer including Indian Paint Brushes, a display of bright forms of yellows and reds launched from two stone bases and lit from above; Persian Wall of flowerish-like glass forms on the second floor balcony overlooking the lobby; Ruby Sea Garden installation inside the Founders Club and in a semi-outdoor area off the Founders Club loggia area.
The Spencer Theater is committed to the importance of the arts having a place in the lives of all people.
Because of this, the theater actively seeks to provide opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to learn about and to experience the arts. In order to achieve this aim, the theater has a strong education and community outreach program which has been in place since opening in October, 1997.
